Easter Sunrise

Is there anything more hopeful than the sunrise? Ushered in on streaky rays of tangerine light, each new day arrives fresh and full of promise. No matter how mediocre- to-awful yesterday may have been, the dawn brings with it the potential for anything and everything good, from here to eternity.

Is it any wonder that the Easter Story is portrayed against a backdrop of early morning blush? The Easter Story is the way we explain how much hope is to be had through the power of Love that never quits. No matter the degree of difficulty or the depth of sorrow experienced on a day like the one when Jesus Christ was crucified, all of it begins to fade away with the possibilities of sunup. We call it Resurrection. We remember that nothing can ever kill off God’s Love—not even with a cross, some spikes, and a sledgehammer. God’s Love cannot be ruined, cannot be defeated, cannot be overwhelmed. Like sunrise itself, God’s Love sweeps away any remnants of darkness and welcomes in the Light.

People who live out their faith in the company of the Moravian Church find Easter to be an especially uplifting season. We gather together—often in a cemetery—to worship as the sun comes up. We celebrate that the Resurrection takes the power right out of death. We sing. We pray.

And sometimes, we also eat breakfast.

Please know that God's Love is for everyone...and God's Love is for YOU. Come and celebrate the sunrise and all of the other good things of the Easter Season with us in our Moravian congregations:
